Veronica profiled in August issue of PlayStation Mag

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008 - 1:55PM

Nice, Veronica was profiled in the August issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine! I don’t think it’s on newsstands yet, but I can’t wait to give it a read. Photo from V’s Flickr.

Qore is go!

Friday, June 6th, 2008 - 10:04AM

Veronica’s big, long awaited, heretofore secret project Qore launched for download last night — we grabbed it this morning to see how the final version looks. Very hot. And I’m not just saying that, because, well, you know. Also, I’m declaring myself the first (ok, maybe second) to have unearthed the Qore easter egg: press L2 from the home screen and you get taken to a mini-game called Death Orb. More from Joystiq and PS3 Fanboy, and Veronica; Death Orb shot after the break. More…

Veronica is blowing up!

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 - 2:19PM

So everybody found out today that V’s heading to Revision3 to do Tekzilla — but that’s only one of her two new regular post-Mahalo gigs. But besides the other thing (which is equally if not more awesome) did I mention she also had a song written about her recently? And did an interview with RCRD LBL? Looks like I’m gonna have to step up my game to keep pace!

Veronica plays meta-Rock Band with Jonathan Coulton

Sunday, February 24th, 2008 - 2:43PM

Still Alive was unironically one of my favorite songs from 2007, so you can only imagine how mind-poppingly awesome I find the real-life on-stage combination of it, one of my favorite games (Rock Band), Veronica, and Jonathan Coulton, as they belt it out along with Leo Laporte and Merlin Mann. Even better was how Veronica saved the band from failing out, what, three times?

P.S. -Extra bonus: Veronica, Jonathan, Merlin, and myself will all be on TWiT this week with Leo, so watch out for it.

Fake Steve caught on tape flipping out about Veronica

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007 - 8:28AM

Remember where FSJ said he kind of threw a fit when Veronica walked in the room? He wasn’t kidding. Definitely a moment, glad someone got that on tape.

Top ten sexy geeks 2007 — so close!

Friday, December 21st, 2007 - 11:31AM

Veronica + Ryan
Was named runner up in Violet Blue’s top ten sexy geeks 2007! “Unrelentingly sexy?” Shucks! Of course, most people will recognize the top slot on that list as my better and FAR hotter half, Veronica. I might jokingly remind her that I was one of Paper Magazine’s Beautiful People, 2006 — but let’s face it, there’s zero chance she’s not the hottest, smartest lady on the internets. Photo of V looking amazing (and me looking angry/half-asleep) by Scott, who also wrote a bit about the very same.

Strange, wonderful stuff from a completely crazy day

Monday, November 5th, 2007 - 8:45PM

What a bizarre day. Among other things…

  • Veronica’s show finally launched! I love it. The coming episodes are pure gold.
  • I got to interview #3 on my “most wanted” list — look for that on Engadget soon.
  • Google announces its long-awaited mobile platform. For the second time this year I’m genuinely stoked about the mobile space.
    • (Side note on Android, in 2004 before Google acquired the eponymous startup founded by Danger founder Andy Rubin, Peter and I brainstormed for weeks on a feature called “The Googlephone”, where we romanticized about what would happen if Google did a SideKick-like cellphone. Not even kidding. Bummer we never got it out the door.)
  • Dick Parsons, the CEO of my parent company’s parent company’s parent company — Time Warner — is apparently out.
  • Screenwriters go on strike, and I want in on that action. I write for a screen, don’t I?
  • Oh yeah, V and I were on TWiT again. (Here’s us recording from our office.)

Mahalo Daily trailer is up, show premiers November 5th!

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007 - 10:19AM

After months of my dear sweet Veronica invading my office space working on her new show for Mahalo they’re finally ready to launch! The trailer is a high-larious take on internet video memes — I’ve been waiting to see it for weeks, and it doesn’t disappoint. Peep it here, and subscribe to it here.

Greetings from Japan!

Sunday, September 30th, 2007 - 7:31AM

Veronica and Ryan at Osaka castle
Hard to believe, but we’ve been in Japan almost two weeks now. (See how well we’ve asimilated?) Things have been pretty busy since we’ve been gone, but with Veronica officially headed home to the States, now sounds like a good time for a quick recap on the trip thus far. See if you notice any trends*.

Sept 19 - Land, take the NEX to Shinjuku, get lost trying to find the hotel, miss the PlayStation party, eat an extraordinarily expensive sashimi dinner.
Sept 20 - Meet up with Ittousai, hit Tokyo Game Show (including Kaz Hirai’s opening speech). Later: Akihabara run, but nothing is purchased.
Sept 21 - TGS day two, head to pick up rental cellphones, get seriously lost, head back for Microsoft’s press shindig, get back to hotel and collapse.
Sept 22 - Meiji-jingu temple, quick run through of Omotesando (shopping area), a bit of time spent marveling at the “colorful” Harajuku kids, plenty more time spent hanging around Roppongi, Daikonyama, and Ebisu.
Sept 23 - A little shopping in Shibuya, Yoyogi park area fun-fest (including Japanese greasers, street musicians, and the weekly yard sale en masse), lunch with Tyler and a really fun, helpful, and completely random Japanese girl (Miho-san), then Shinkansen to Kyoto. More…
