Who’s on first? iPod nano, that’s who.

The new nano’s great and all, but I think Apple really dropped the ball on this devices’ marketing potential for the geriatric set. (Actual proportions.)

  1. That would have been admitting the nano ‘fatty’ looked bad in adverts (even though it was a cute little device in real life).

    It would also have slapped current nano users in the face. Probably not a good option.

  2. Um, Ryan…Costello was the short, fat one.

  6. I’m kind of miffed Apple isn’t considering firmware upgrades for the 3g Nano since the 4g and 3g Nano are essentially the same IPod. Especially since they are considering allowing it with the last gen Classic models.

    That’s Apple for ya though. Need to get their hardware numbers up by forcing you to upgrade your hardware for marginal feature upgrades…

  7. From the individual shots the 4G Nano screen looked big so I’m surprised it’s the exact same size as the 3G. I do like the way you hold it sideways but I really wish there was a way to disable that obnoxious coverflow. I’d prefer to see a list view that went across the screen.

  8. haha!
    yeah, because I’m in between older generations and younger ones, I still get it. … barely, but I know my parents would have liked that

  9. That would only work if they included a video of the skit… they could, maybe, get away with just including the audio… on everyone shipped (in the US at least).

  10. Alternately:

    * Laurel and Hardy
    * Jack Sprat & Wife

    and the geek favorite

    * C3PO and R2D2

    Also, looking forward to the next gdgtcast.

  11. [...] Here are the two candidates–that’s the new guy on the left, of course. (Abbott and Costello metaphor used in headline stolen from Ryan Block.) [...]

  12. Either one looks fine to me but as long as my gen 1 nano and my iPhone keep working I probably won’t be buying any iPods. I also have a gen 3 iPod which I don’t use often. If they bring a 60+ Touch at the right price then I might consider buying.
