Ryan,

I have not been hands on with a Kindle yet, but have read and heard enough reviews to feel like I have some valid points of reference. I would say that your review is about #2. I have to give the #1 spot to Andy Ihnatko, but he did have the advantage of a dry run with MBW before he went to print. I would tweak your review by addressing the questions about the "bonus" features that could be killed by Amazon at any time with an OTA update. The Kindle might be worth $400.00 with free EVDO wireless internet and PDF reader. Otherwise not so much.

Finally, something that no one seems to address is just how the Kindle reading experence is better than the Palm reading experence for significantly less cash and more features? Is it really that much easier on the eyes?

Well, I do know this: since having e-book readers around, I read books a LOT more. And that's a Good Thing.

I was hoping to add my 2 cents at the end, having lived with one for a week now, but I think you nailed it. I probably won't use it for all books, but anything I don't really care to add to my library as an artifact (Colbert's new book for instance) is perfect. I've found myself using it mostly for newspapers. I wonder if that will be the thing that hooks people.

The question this device begs for me, is how much time do I have for recreation? When will I use it? I have music, podcasts, websites, TV shows, and now ebooks?

Nice review, Ryan! Used a Kindle yesterday for the first time and was very impressed by how easy on the eyes reading is.

I'd be interested in hearing about the sound quality.
