Some additional triflings, ranging from amusing to awesome (in order):
- I’m jealous: Brian met Stan Lee. And I didn’t.
- Paris Hilton loses her $60m inheritance. Perhaps there is a god after all. Update: TMZ reports it’s all a dirty fabrication. This will be the last time PH is ever mentioned on this blog.
- In related news, it sounds like the bay area had its tech parties this weekend crashed by a Paris Hilton type of its own: Julia Allison seems every bit as vacuous (”(in)famy”?), phony, and manipulative of the media. She also has one pose, which is hilariously awful. Welcome to California.
- Dear god, will someone please get me an electric drivetrain vehicle? I may even settle for this new Prius PHEV, despite its pitiful, castrated 8 mile electric range. And don’t feed me no bull about waiting for advancements in battery tech, we all know it’s there. The EV1 got at VERY LEAST 55 miles on ancient lead-acid batteries, and it was introduced in 1995!

I’ve been holding out buying a new car until I can get something electric. I can’t be the only person out there has no need for a car with more than a 100 mile range. It is very frustrating.

Hey Ryan forget about the Prius PHEV. What good is only an 8 mile range on the charge? Look at at Tesla Motors http://www.teslamotors.com
The Roadster has over 200 miles of range on a charge and it’s pure electric! You can’t beat the performance either: 0 - 60 in 3.9 secs! Yeah I know it’s a little pricey, but we’re developing a 5 passenger sedan (codenamed: WhiteStar) that will be launched in two years that will be much more affordable for a wider audience.

Rich, I’ve obviously followed Tesla very closely — I should actually come down some time. Still, $50k for a sedan isn’t what I’d call accessible — but it’s a start.

I went on the Tesla website and configured a sweet deal for just $105,350.00. You just gotta tell Peter and the bean counters at AOL (or what ever they will be calling it that week) that this is ESSENTIAL for an Engadget company car.
