D: the recap

I’ve obviously been pretty occupied since getting to D yesterday, but before I crash here’s the recap of events, a sentence (or so) apiece:
Flight out: Chad Hurley and Steve Chen — I asked why they didn’t have their own damn jet yet.
McCain: Shook his hand, let Calacanis grill him about all manner of issues, enjoyed the sparks.
Steve Ballmer: Dude is still out of control. REALLY entertaining to write up.
Microsoft Surface: Literally one of the most impressive new technologies I’ve seen in recent memory. I was practically floored.
Jeff Hawkins: This guy needs to wise up, and fast.
Foleo: Hilariously ill-conceived with some even more hilarious new nicknames.
Jobs: YouTube on Apple TV = awesome. Walt could really have drilled on Steve like he drilled on his other guests, though.
iPhone gets 3rd party apps (eventually): Good. Because I was going to have to write some severe editorial if this didn’t go down.
Jobs when I approached him about Applegate at lunch: Jokingly offered to let him punch me; he played dumb. Clever!
Mahalo launch: I know J’s not really affiliated with us anymore, but it feels like he is, and was I ever proud. Great job on stage.
Internet access at the conference: Sucks. Big time. Even in the press room.
George Lucas: Dude, take care of the jowls. No one likes the fact that you grew round on Star Wars ticket sales and ILM workers’ blood, sweat, and tears.
Les Moonves, John Chambers, Steve Case: What can I say? In the presence of legends.
Gates and Jobs together on stage: Interesting and insightful — not for the things they said, but for the look we got into how they regard and respect one another. Everyone got teary at the end, myself included.

Awesome live blogging Ryan, I enjoyed reading it all very much. It’s the bits in brackets that are so funny, like:
[Ha! Nice non-answer!]
Do you use your Tytn to write/post in real time, in a dark theater? Just wondering.

I think my favourite Foleo name on Engadget was a tie between ‘Wack Hawk Down’, ‘Boat Anchor’ and ‘Palm Polio’! I started giggling like a schoolgirl at my work desk when i read those nickname comments…

For people like me on limited bandwidth(And so unable to watch a live feed even if it were there), your text only comments were cool :D
Palm Polio sounds cool though :D
