Paper BP

My old friend Dave just pinged me to let me know he got a copy of Paper’s Beautiful People issue*, which means it must be nearing April. He sent some shots of the mag, and I’ll be honest: nothing on Cass Bird, who’s obviously an amazing photographer, but I’m not really feeling the photo the photo’s growing on me. Ah well, it’s still fun and at least I was wearing an Alexander McQueen suit with my fav tshirt, which my lady gave to me. I’m kind of simultaneously stoked about and dreading the Beautiful People party next month, though, so we’ll see how that goes. Either way, it’s definitely an honor to be a “beautiful person,” and to be recognized by Paper for doing our thing.

* free with pairs of pants at Urban Outfitters, apparently.

  2. Bah, not being all “Brokeback”….but it’s a great shot…very artistic…you have a honest joy look about you bro…embrace the damn thing and be grateful you’re even in a magazine…especially labeled “Beautiful People”…can you tell I’m a bit jealous? Keep up the good work on Engadget..it’s a hoot to listen to.

  3. Thanks Travis! Actually, a friend pointed out it looks more like I’m laughing and less like I’m blinking, which was actually of some consolation. But you are definitely right, it’s still an honor to be a “beautiful person,” and I definitely appreciate Paper’s recognizing Peter and I for our efforts.

    Best, Ryan

  4. Yeah it looks pretty awesome man. The whole shot is cool. It didn’t look like you were blinking actually. More laughing.

  6. Actually they were having him do shadow puppets because it was right before sundown the light was pouring in from the side. I guess they liked “peace” the best.

  12. So you think your kung-fu is pretty good, eh?

If in doubt, take your friend out of the sentence:

    Paper’s Beautiful People 2006 out… featuring I.

    or

    Paper’s Beautiful People 2006 out… featuring me.

    With love, LB.

  13. Nice shot. You remind me of a young Michael Stipe. How about a spot on the podcast about the best razor for keeping that 3 day beard going.

  14. [...] that list as my better and FAR hotter half, Veronica. I might jokingly remind her that I was one of Paper Magazine’s Beautiful People, 2006 — but let’s face it, there’s zero chance she’s not the hottest, smartest [...]
